Copyright Takedown Policy

Effective date: 16 August 2026

Last updated: 25 September 2026

Version: 3.2

Hudood respects copyright and responds to sufficiently detailed infringement notices under applicable law, including India's Copyright Act, 1957 and Copyright Rules, 2013.

1. Submit a notice

There are three routes into the same review queue. Use whichever suits you; each one is read by the same officer, on the same timeline.

  • In the Hudood app. Open the content, choose Report, then Copyright or intellectual property. The app opens a claim form rather than an ordinary report.
  • On the website. Signed-in users can file from Settings → Your copyright claims. Rightsholders without a Hudood account can use the open form at https://hudood.com/legal/copyright-claim - no account is needed, and it is the route most rightsholders will want.
  • By email. Write to legal@hudood.com with the subject Copyright Takedown Notice.

Every route asks for the same information, because the same information is what makes a notice actionable. Whichever you use, include:

  • your full name, organization, postal address, telephone number, and email;
  • identification of the copyrighted work or an authorized representative sample;
  • the exact Hudood URL, post ID, account, or other location of each allegedly infringing item;
  • an explanation of the right claimed and why the use is unauthorized;
  • a good-faith statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act; and
  • your physical or electronic signature.

Hudood may request missing information and may share the notice with the affected user where lawful.

Notices filed through the app or the website are given a reference of the form CR-YYYY-NNNNNN. Signed-in claimants can follow the status of their own notices in the app or at Settings → Your copyright claims.

2. Hudood's response

Hudood may restrict access while reviewing a complete notice, preserve relevant records, notify the uploader, and remove or restore content according to applicable law. A notice does not guarantee removal. Hudood considers ownership, authorization, exceptions and limitations, fair dealing, jurisdiction, and any counter-notice.

3. Counter-notice

If your content was restricted by mistake or misidentification, email legal@hudood.com with the subject Copyright Counter-Notice and include:

  • your name and contact details;
  • the removed content and its former location;
  • your explanation and supporting license, ownership, or exception;
  • a good-faith statement that restriction resulted from mistake or misidentification; and
  • your physical or electronic signature.

Hudood may forward the counter-notice to the claimant and restore content when permitted if the claimant does not obtain the legal relief required to continue restriction.

4. Repeat infringement and misuse

Hudood may terminate accounts that repeatedly or seriously infringe rights. Fraudulent notices, altered evidence, or knowing material misrepresentations may lead to account action and legal liability.

5. United States notices

This public contact accepts copyright complaints from any jurisdiction.

Hudood has not yet designated an agent with the United States Copyright Office under 17 U.S.C. section 512(c). Until a designated agent is registered and named in this section, Hudood does not claim section 512(c) safe-harbour status. The notice and counter-notice process set out above is operated in any event, and Hudood responds to well-founded copyright complaints regardless of safe-harbour status.
